LENT 2016   Lent was originally devised as a period of catechesis for those seeking membership of the Church at Easter, developing a deeper commitment to a life of faith, Christian witness and service.  For many this season of grace is also a welcome opportunity to do a bit of ‘spiritual spring-cleaning’. Sorting through the flotsam and jetsum of our lives, getting rid of unwanted baggage, freshening up our prayer-lives and having a more open-door attitude to others, especially those who are very different from ourselves but who may reveal God to us in surprising ways when we allow his light into the dark recesses so as to see as God sees and to love as he loves.
SCIAF ‘WEE BOXES’  are once again available for your  contributions to SCIAF’s projects. Please remember to send your donations directly to SCIAF at the end of the Lenten period. There is also a retiring collection as always on the 4th Sunday in Lent, 6th March for SCIAF and Episcopal charities.
CLUSTER PARISHES TOGETHER  Last night Archbishop Cushley gave a presentation on the current state of the Archdiocese and where we as parishes might go in order to be more effective in our dual mission of building up the Church and in sharing the Gospel of Christ with the world. How we can do that will hopefully emerge from 3 further meetings we have been asked to hold during this year.  Dates to be announced soon.
CHURCH GARDEN  As days begin to lengthen and we start to look forward to better weather and the signs of new life, this gives me the opportunity to say a very big THANK YOU to Denis Mochan and his team of helpers whose creative skill and sheer hard work make our Church Garden the local gem it is, admired by all who pass by.  And of course, a big THANK YOU to everyone for your generous money and plant donations which make all this possible.  God bless you all.   Fr John.
200 CLUB  St Bernadette's Primary School Parent Council will be  starting a 200 club in March and we would invite you to join as well. Information and sign up forms will be available after Mass. You can also contact us by email
SCOTTISH CATHOLIC EDUCATION SERVICE   is holding an Open Forum at St John’s RC Academy, Dundee on Saturday 5th March on how our schools are helping our children to develop and grow in their faith.  The recent call for more committed Catholics to consider a career in teaching will be the focus of a seminar at St Mary’s PS, Stirling on Tuesday 29th March. Please see notice board for more details.
