MARIE CURIE  has written to churches as follows:  Across the country Marie Curie will be providing care and support to people living with a terminal illness this festive season. For many this will their last Christmas.  188 nurses will be making 3,630 home visits for which they will need to raise £72, 640. Every pound donated means our nurses can give someone the expert care they deserve at the end of their life, helping them spend it in peace in a place in which they are most comfortable surrounded by the people they love. Please contact Jim Stewart Community Fundraiser for our area on 07798638156 or 01315613951 if you feel able to contribute to the charity at this time.
Fr John writes……As many of you know, my dearest friend Marie Ramsay has been battling cancer for well over a year.  There is nothing more that can be done except keeping her as comfortable as possible and with the minimum of pain. She has been given a bed in St Columba’s Hospice, Edinburgh and close family and friends are visiting daily. You will all understand that parish Masses and pastoral matters may be subject to change so please check Facebook / Parish Notice Board for details. Thank you and God bless you all for your prayers and support.
PAX CHRISTI  This well-respected activist group works for Peace, Reconciliation and Non-violence, supporting teachers and chaplains and youth workers in schools and developing solidarity between peoples and promoting sustainable security rather than dependence on weapons and warfare. Fr Basil Clark, Episcopal Vicar for J&P has invited Bruce Kent, internationally renowned peace campaigner, to be key speaker at the introduction of PAX CHRISTI into our archdiocese.  The venue will be Our Lady of Loretto and St Michael’s Church, Musselburgh and the event begins at 10am on Saturday 19th January 2019.
